Newby Hall remains the family home of the Compton family and boasts impressive interiors as well as an imposing exterior.  Designed by the architect Sir Christopher Wren, you will find inside Robert Adams fireplaces, Gobelins Tapestries and an impressive statue gallery which enjoys amazing afternoon light and makes for some great photographs.  One of our weddings at Newby Hall saw the arrival of the bride, her father and the bridesmaids by boat – having chartered a boat from Bishop Monkton on the opposite side of the River Ure.  Just two miles from the A1M motorway at Boroughbridge, Newby Hall is ideally located for York, Leeds and Harrogate. With landscaped gardens exceeding 40 acres and the most amazing herbaceous borders, it makes a superb backdrop for fabulous wedding photographs.

We are frequently asked if we have worked at a particular wedding venue before. As one of the UK’s top wedding photographers we have worked at literally hundreds of wedding venues across the country, indeed across the world, so frequently the answer is no. However, as you can see from the photographs on this page this is not the case with the Newby Hall – where we have photographed several weddings.  Newby Hall is one location we would love photograph again soon – especially since it is right on our doorstep and one of our favourite places to hang out!

A Newby Hall Wedding

Within the Hall itself the Library, Statue Gallery and Ante Room all interconnect and so large numbers can be catered for.  The Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies.  In the grounds of the Hall the Grantham Room is a purpose built, more modern function room and there is also an option to have a marquee on the lawn should you so wish.  Newby Hall is open to the general public during the summer months until around 5.30pm but with extensive grounds and private areas this should not affect your enjoyment of a Newby Hall wedding celebration.
